Volunteering in the Philippines inspired Dr. Bill Magee, a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathy Magee, a nurse and clinical social worker, to found Operation Smile after witnessing the dire need for life-changing cleft surgeries in the country. When the Magees saw how many children weren’t able to get surgery, they vowed to return.
